Paul, his father and one farm worker, Tim, are responsible for the everyday tasks on the farm bringing in specialist contractors at times when required such as silage and sheep clipping time.
The livestock on the farm consists of an award winning flock of North Country Cheviots, a hardy breed of sheep developed many generations ago in this very area. Like the Aynsley family themselves, the sheep are very much a part of the Northumbrian countryside!
There is also a herd of 150 suckler cows, who graze the open fields and pastures throughout the spring, summer and autumn months and who are housed throughout the winter.
Guests are allowed to wander wherever they wish throughout the farm - But please remember to shut the gates! And we are always happy to answer any questions you may have about the farm and farming.
During lambing time (beginning mid. March) there are always a few extra mouths to feed in the form of pet lambs, and guests are more than welcome to grab a bottle and help out!
